Where I'm From

Where I’m From
Jessica DeJarnatt

I am from captivatingly, romantic letters from my husband, Ryan
that are very dear to me,

_

From the ultimately delightful flowery fragrance of the lavender
and lilac bushes that turns summer into a sweet serendipity of fresh smells

_
I am from a dark chestnut Scrabble board game that my family
resorts to for a whimsical pastime.

_
I am from the enormous milky white farm house that Ryan and I
warmly call our first home together,

_
From the brilliant golden wild flowers in my front yard that I enjoy
admiring in the afternoons.

_
I am from the tall juicy apple tree that stands bold and strong in
the breeze.

_
I am from lengthy journeys to Joplin, Missouri where my family
attends family camp,

_
From eyes as brown as rich chocolate

_
I am from my devoted and kind-hearted husband, Ryan, my hardworking loving mom, Sue and correctional officer dad, Nick.

_
I am from, “I didn’t raise you all to act like this,” and “Time for
morning lovings” that I heard from my well meaning and affectionate mother.

_
From Ryan’s and my romantically fairy-tale wedding on September 4, 2004

_
I am from holding hands with my husband while walking around
the Kentucky Oaks theater.

_
I am from the little sleepy town of Richmond, Kentucky where I
was born,
_
From traditional homemade macaroni and cheese and delectable
chocolate chip cookies

_
I am from the countless enriching days that my committed mother devoted to my homeschool education

_
I am from the old brown picture box in the attic where childhood photos of Dusty, Jennifer, and I can be found
From the growing row of memory filled scrapbooks on the shelf in
our room

_
I am from the family pictures found in the living room’s antique
war trunk.

_
I am from the adventurous night time readings with mom of the
Sadie Rose books when I was a child

_
From the hours spent listening to stories about the spooky old
farmhouse in Blue Diamond where Dad was raised

_
I am from the annual Saturday nights after Thanksgiving spent in
Berea, KY with my Dad’s family.

_
This is where I’m from.

The REST of the pictures...

FINALLY, here's the picture where Ty was acting silly on his Grandma's lap! =)

I just love the sweet look on his face. Doesn't mom look skinny in these pictures??? She's lost some weight and looks even more fantastic than she already did!

Ty waiting at the back door for Papa and Grandma. He heard them pull up and raced to the back and stood waiting for them. I thought it was funny that they snapped a shot of him standing at the door looking for them! =)

Hopefully No Little Red X's

Dad decided it was going to be a great idea to teach me how to properly fish. Then...he created a monster! lol...Poor dad didn't get to fish at all once mom and I got out there! He spent his entire time taking fish off our hooks and bating them for us! What a sweet dad!By the way, Amanda, this is my official "unflattering" picture with no make-up and yet-to-be combed hair.

Dad doing what he did best that day!

Um...this is Ryan, haha, pretending to eat his "biggest catch" of the day!

One COOL Birthday Cake

Isn't this just TOO COOL! Ryan's Aunt Vicki takes ALL the credit for making this little masterpiece! I think he's the best birthday cake I've ever seen! She's been taking some cake decorating classes as a side hobby...looks like those classes are working! See below for the BIRTHDAY PICTURES! Sorry there aren't that many...Ryan was running the video camera and I was helping Ty open stuff and all that. So we actually don't have a picture of him in the outfit he wore during his party. haha...I'll have to bum a picture off a few of the people who were there taking pictures with their cameras! Silly me didn't think to hand mine off to someone and tell them to snap a few for me. OOPS! Next time!

Ty's 1st Birthday Party!!!

This is Ty's b-day present from his Uncle Shane. It's a cool little zebra that bounces up and down when Ty does. He plays music and clip-clops too. I think it's my favorite toy that he got! haha...He played on it FOREVER before everyone showed up for the actual "party." Thus, he has only the white onesie on. Now you all really didn't think that's what I dressed him in for his party now did you?
This is Ty's AWESOME birthday cake. Made by Ryan's Aunt Vicki! Didn't she do the most spectacular job???!!! I hated to cut him up and serve him to everyone! lol

This is Ty with his little church friend, Alyssa. She turned one back in November, but he's bigger than she is. That is Alyssa's momma, Ashley, holding the two of them. Pray for Ashley and her family. They just lost her grandfather this past Friday. Posted by Picasa

More Birthday Boy Pictures...

Okay...to start with on this list of pictures...I was scared to death that I was going to run out of black ink while printing out those letters on the wall! lol I wanted a cute sign to hang up and had forgotten to pick one up. I'm sure you can probably purchase one pretty cheap at discount stores. Anyway, I DIDN'T get one while I was out and decided to print one up and had to use up 15 pieces of paper! haha
Doesn't he look happy about that whole ordeal?! lol...uh Ryan on the other hand looks like I don't know what. (Amanda, this must be his unflattering pic. lol) After the party was over and everyone left, I was cleaning up and Ryan was quite dismayed when I announced that the streamers and sign was staying up till his actual birthday on Tuesday. lol! I'm sure we'll survive! It's already been one day...and although I think Ryan's secretly praying the tape will let loose and I'll have to take it all down, nothing has budged and his decorations have safely stayed put! YAY for scotch tape!

Ty thought the streamers hanging from the ceiling fan were pretty cool! lol...so did I since it was my idea to put them there! Thank goodness for Ryan's help though. I couldn't have done the streamers without him. I guess I could have but I sure wouldn't have had my sanity by the time I got done. lol. He was a life-saver and did most of the streamer work himself. Streamers are an awesome-cheap decoration, but SUCH a pain to work with! lolPosted by Picasa
